Seth Trimble almost left the UNC basketball program this offseason.

Following his stellar performance in an exhibition contest against Memphis, Tar Heel fans are sure glad he decided to stay.

Heading into his junior season, Trimble is poised for a breakout campaign, as he is expected to play a major role for this year's UNC basketball squad.

2023-2024 Season in Review

During the 2023-24 season, Trimble came off the bench as the sixth man. He averaged around 5 points and two rebounds per game in 17 minutes. Trimble received six votes for ACC Sixth Man of the Year, which he finished in third. The junior guard shot very well this past season, shooting 41.9% for three and 47% for field goal percentage.

What to Expect in 2024-2025

We could expect a great year from Trimble in many different ways. During the Tar Heels exhibition game vs Memphis, Trimble had a career night. Trimble played 33 minutes in an 83-76 win over Memphis. He finished with a career-high 33 points, shooting 11-17. This was a breakout game for the junior, showing how unstoppable he can be this season.

We are not sure if Trimble will start or continue to be the Sixth Man for North Carolina, but after his great performance against Memphis, it will be hard not to start him. Either way, he will play huge minutes for the Tar Heels and be important on both sides of the ball.

Bold Prediction

Seth Trimble wins ACC Defensive Player of the Year.

Trimble talked about how one of his goals this year is to win ACC Defensive Player of the Year, and I think it is possible. He talked about how he is getting better defensively because he plays against RJ Davis in practice every day. If this is one of his goals and continues to grow on the defensive side of the ball, I believe he will bring home ACC Defensive Player of the Year for the first time in Chapel Hill since 2011-12.
