Where does UNC Women's Basketball land in ESPN's way-too-early bracketology?
As we begin the countdown to college basketball season, the preseason rankings and watchlists by analysts around the country have slowly started to roll in.
The latest news comes from ESPN's Charlie Creme and his preseason Women's Bracketology for the 2025 NCAA tournament.
With the Pac-12 gone, there will be 31 automatic qualifiers in the field of 68 and 37 at-large bids. In his most recent bracketology report, Creme has the North Carolina Women's Basketball program landing as a four-seed in Region 4 with an at-large bid.
In this hypothetical matchup, North Carolina would face James Madison (13 seed) in the first round, and then, if victorious, the winner of a 5 vs 12 matchup between Ole Miss and UNLV.
The prediction means that the Tar Heels are trending in the right direction. They entered the 2024 NCAA tournament as an eight-seed and were eventually knocked out by the top-seeded South Carolina Gamecocks in the second round.
Creme projects that Notre Dame will take home the ACC tournament trophy and be the conference's automatic qualifier for the second straight season. He's also projected a total of ten ACC teams to make the tournament this upcoming season.
