The UNC Women's Lacrosse program had their 2023 season end in Chapel Hill last spring when No. 5 seed Denver upset the No. 4-ranked Tar Heels to advance to the Final Four making it just the third time since 2008 that the Tar Heels didn't reach the Final Four.

North Carolina will enter the 2024 season with plenty of returners and eyes set on getting back to the Final Four this year with hopes of securing the program's first National Championship since 2022, and fourth overall.

Jenny Levy's squad will enter the 2024 regular season as the No. 3-ranked team in the country, behind only defending National Champion Northwestern and defending National Runner-Up Boston College.

The Tar Heels return eight players who were All-Americans last season, and all have earned All-American honors heading into the 2024 UNC Women's Lacrosse season. Not only does North Carolina return that talent from the 2023 team, but they also bring in the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, according to Inside Lacrosse, including the No. 1 and No. 4 freshmen.

It will be a challenging schedule once again for the No. 3 Tar Heels as they open the 2024 season with a road game versus No. 8 James Madison on February 10th. North Carolina will also play No. 1 Northwestern, at No. 2 Boston College, at No. 5 Syracuse, No. 7 Notre Dame, No. 12 Florida and at No. 20 Virginia.
