UNC Football vs Charlotte: Location, Time, Prediction, and More
The UNC football program returns to Chapel Hill to kick off a three-game homestand against non-Power 5 opponents. It's not exactly the schedule that will drive ticket sales, but it's precisely what the Tar Heels need to break in their new/old quarterback Conner Harrell.
Mack Brown was tight-lipped about his quarterback competition over the summer, but when Max Johnson got the starting nod at Minnesota, and came out for the second half despite an underwhelming first half performance, it became apparent that Conner Harrell wasn't really in the team's plans.
An unfortunate (and season-ending) injury to Johnson changed that, and now Harrell will have an opportunity to rewrite history. He couldn't have asked for a better opponent to start off against.
Charlotte looked well beaten in their season opener against James Madison. That could be because their preseason was apparently conducted on Omaha Beach on June 6, 1944. Coach Biff Poggi said that the 49ers would be down eight to nine starters in the home opener against JMU. It looks like things might be a little better against North Carolina but not by much.
Coach Poggi did have some very nice things to say about North Carolina and Mack Brown, in particular:
It shouldn't be a brutal afternoon in Chapel Hill, with forecasts calling for a high of 80 and a 30% chance of rain. It seems like the ideal conditions for Omarion Hampton and Conner Harrell to put some miles on the Charlotte defense.
Let's see how these two programs stack up.
