On Christmas Day, the UNC Football program announced the uniform combination they would be wearing during the Dukes Mayo Bowl versus the West Virginia Mountaineers. We have discussed and mentioned several times throughout the 2023 season just how rare it is for the Tar Heels to wear the same uniform combination during a single season during the Mack Brown 2.0 era, and it appears the bowl game will be no different.

The UNC Football program will wear a uniform combination that Tar Heel fans haven't seen during the 2023 season: white helmets, jerseys, and blue pants. With North Carolina being the designated away team in the Dukes Mayo Bowl, white jerseys were always a given in this game, it was the helmet and pants that were the unknown.

This will be the first time the Tar Heels have used this uniform combination since 2022, when they took it on the road to Miami and faced the Hurricanes in a 27-24 North Carolina victory. It will be just the fourth time since Brown returned to Chapel Hill in 2019 that the UNC Football program has used this combination, coming away with a 3-0 record in that time.

The Tar Heels also wore this combination the week before the Miami game in 2022 when they won at Georgia State. Prior to that, the only other appearance for North Carolina with white helmets, white jerseys, and blue pants came during the 2020 COVID season when they won at Duke, 56-24.

The Tar Heels will kick off versus the West Virginia Mountaineers in the 2023 Dukes Mayo Bowl on Wednesday, December 27th, at 5:30 PM on ESPN.
