The UNC football program added an in-state running back to their 2025 recruiting class.

Demon June, a junior running back from Jacksonville High School, is a three-star recruit, and #30-ranked recruit in the state of North Carolina. The 5-foot-11, 225-pound running back chose North Carolina over the likes of East Carolina, Georgia Southern, App State, Connecticut, James Madison, Old Dominion, Ohio, and Toledo.

June had not even held an official offer from North Carolina for a month before committing. His offer list was not filled with Power 5 schools. But recently, programs that needed to fill their running back rooms with talent started sniffing around. They'll have to look elsewhere as Larry Porter adds another impressive piece to the UNC football program's talented and varied group of backs.

June has been highly productive as a Cardinal, compiling 3,299 yards and 60 touchdowns in his first three years at Jacksonville High. He does not have top-end speed, but he is strong, stout, and has great balance. He'll also matriculate at a fortuitous time.

Omarion Hampton will head to the NFL after this season (no matter what), so there will be open competition for a lot of snaps in the UNC football program's backfield a year from now.

At this point, it's anyone's for the taking.
