UNC Football offers one of the most in-demand defensive backs in the Class of 2027
Mack Brown and the UNC Football staff have already started recruiting the Class of 2027, scouting players who have just finished their freshman year of high school. Marquis Bryant is the 12th and most recent player in the 2027 class to receive an offer from the Tar Heels.
The defensive back out of Rolesville High School in Rolesville, North Carolina, is coming off one of the best freshman seasons in the nation. The six-foot 170-pound standout only allowed two completions for 25 yards throughout his entire freshman season. In addition to the lockdown coverage, Bryant finished the season with 33 solo and 53 total tackles.
Marquis Bryant's performance has not gone unnoticed. He has secured the No. 4 spot on Prep Redzone's defensive back rankings in North Carolina. He is the second defensive back in the Class of 2027 to be offered by the UNC football program, along with Larry Moon III from Pittsburgh, PA.
Marquis Bryant's talent has attracted significant attention. He has already received offers from over 10 Power-5 schools, including in-state rivals Duke and NC State, and ACC rivals Virginia Tech and Syracuse.
It will be three long years before Bryant transitions to the college level, and with the high demand for him, the UNC football program will face a significant challenge in keeping this exceptional in-state talent interested in staying home.
