UNC Football named a finalist for highly sought-after Class of 2025 wide receiver
On Tuesday, Class of 2025 four-star wide receiver Malik Clark announced on the social media platform "X" that the UNC football program earned a spot on his list of top-five schools.
Other schools making Clark's top five include ACC rivals Florida State and NC State, along with SEC powerhouses Auburn and South Carolina.Β
North Carolina has been active in recruiting Clark, the six-foot-one receiver from Rock Hill, SC, who will visit Chapel Hill on Friday. Clark has been rapidly moving up the WR rankings and is now ranked No. 22 nationally by 247sports.
Clark is an exceptionally fast athlete and participates in track and field outside of football. As a junior, Clark finished third in the South Carolina 5A 100-meter finals with a time of 10.62 seconds. His speed has helped him dominate on the field, finishing his junior football season with 800 yards and nine touchdowns on 46 catches.
The Tar Heels' most considerable recruiting opposition seems to be the Gamecocks, who hope to keep Clark in-state. Clark visited South Carolina on Sunday, June 2nd.Β
Gamecock Digest spoke to Clark after he met with South Carolina head coach Shane Beamer and wide receiver coach Mike Furrey. "They talked about me being a top priority and staying home to help win a championship," said Clark.Β
As the weekend approaches, all eyes are on Clark's visit to Chapel Hill. This visit is a pivotal moment in the recruitment process, and if Mack Brown and the Tar Heels are to secure Clark in Carolina blue in 2025, they will need to pull out all the stops.
