In the third quarter of the UNC football program's season-opener at Minnesota, starting quarterback Max Johnson went down after a hit by a Minnesota defender after stepping back in the pocket on a crucial third and 10. After the play, Johnson was on the ground, grabbing what looked to be his right leg.

Johnson was carted off the field and looked to be in serious pain with just over three minutes left in the third quarter. Backup quarterback Conner Harrell was called upon to take over upon Johnson's departure from the game.

Before suffering the injury, Johnson completed 12 of 19 passes for 71 yards and one interception. Johnson also scored the Tar Heel's first touchdown of the season with a three-yard rush in the second quarter.

It was an unpleasant and unexpected UNC football debut for the Texas A&M transfer, who will hopefully be able to return to action as soon as possible.
