UNC Basketball: Vince Carter Eligible Candidate For 2024 Hall of Fame

The UNC Basketball program has a long history of successful teams and individuals that have accomplished big things throughout their basketball careers. That continues to be true once again as Vince Carter has been nominated as an eligible candidate for the 2024 Class in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Carter is an eligible candidate as a first-time inductee, joining several others, including the 2008 U.S.A. Olympic Men's Basketball Team. The eligible candidates will be narrowed down to the finalists on Friday, February 16, during the NBA All-Star Weekend, with the entire Class of 2024 being announced during Final Four Weekend on Saturday, April 6th.
The former Tar Heel has a long list of achievements throughout his basketball career. During his time at North Carolina, he was named third-team All-ACC in 1997, first-team All-ACC, and a consensus second-team All-American in 1998. His No. 15 jersey is hanging in the Dean Smith Center rafters as an honored jersey.
During his lengthy 22-year NBA career from 1998 until 2020, with eight different teams, Carter continued to rack up the accolades, beginning his rookie season as he was named Rookie of the Year and All-Rookie First Team. He made the all-NBA third team in 2000 and the all-NBA second team in 2001, along with being an NBA All-Star a remarkable eight times.
