Former UNC basketball forward Leaky Black was waived by the Charlotte Hornets this afternoon. The Tar Heel alumni signed a two-way deal with the Hornets in July 2023 and played his rookie season for the Hornets and their G-League team affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm.

Black appeared in 26 games during the Hornets' regular season, averaging 2.7 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game. This offseason, Black also played for the Hornets' summer league team.

Although his time with the Hornets was short, Black certainly had some memorable moments in Charlotte.

In January, Black made a clutch free throw that helped the Hornets defeat the Minnesota Timberwolves. A short clip of the free throw went viral across social media, thanks in part to some colorful commentary by the Hornets broadcast crew.

The quote "I Love Leaky!" became popular throughout the Charlotte fanbase after Black's first-ever free throw in the NBA.

Throughout seven games in the 2023-24 season with the Swarm, Black averaged 10.8 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 1.7 steals in just over 26 minutes per game.

Hopefully his game tape from his rookie season in the NBA, along with his extensive highlights from his five-year career in Chapel Hill, will help him land a two-way deal with a new franchise.
