UNC Basketball guard named to the ACC All-Freshman Team

The UNC Basketball program finished the Atlantic Coast Conference season 17-3 and was crowned the regular season champions. When a team is that successful, it comes with several individual accolades. The Tar Heels have seen plenty of that recognition on the Monday following the end of the regular season before post-season play begins.

Freshman guard Elliot Cadeau was one of those individuals who received honors as he was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team. The reclassified guard from New Jersey sparked the UNC Basketball program, especially offensively, during the 2023-2024 season.

This doesn't come as a surprise to anyone. Cadeau was predicted to be the All-ACC Rookie of the Year during the preseason back in October by the ACC Media. While Cadeau didn't achieve those honors, he was still a very important piece and one of the best freshmen in the conference this season.

Cadeau was a faciliator for the North Carolina offense for most of the season and when he was on the floor, the Tar Heels were much more efficient offensively in sharing the basketball and scoring. He joined the starting lineup after six games and has been there since. He leads the team with 125 assists and has a 2.19 assist-to-turnover ratio which is fourth best in UNC Basketball history by a freshman.

As of late, Cadeau has become more than just a passing guard as he has started to find a way to provide offensive contributions by scoring the basketball and driving to the rim. That offensive production, to go along with his ability to distribute the basketball and find the open man, will become even more important throughout his Tar Heel career.
