UNC Basketball: ACC Men's Basketball rankings for the week of January 15

The Cardinals just have not been good; however, they are starting to provide some on-court results that could see them move up in these rankings over the several weeks as they have an opportunity to pick up some quality wins in a difficult ACC.

Last week, the Cardinals went on the road to Coral Gables and knocked off the Miami Hurricanes as a 17-point underdog. Winning on the road is hard, and the Cardinals did that, picking up an 80-71 victory over the Hurricanes. However, while that win is impressive, it wasn't enough to move the needle in these rankings for the Cardinals.

Louisville followed that win up by losing at home to the NC State Wolfpack, 89-83, on Saturday afternoon. It was a close game, and one the Cardinals played the Wolfpack tough, but not tough enough. A win over NC State would have been enough to bump the Cardinals.

Louisville has two road opportunities against teams near the top of the ACC Rankings upcoming: at North Carolina on Wednesday and at Wake Forest on Saturday. A win against either would likely be enough to move the Cardinals at least up one spot, given the quality of competition.
