UNC Baseball: Vance Honeycutt named College World Series All-Tournament Team
By JT Zangara
Vance Honeycutt has shined on the brightest stages this season and throughout his entire UNC baseball career.
Whether it was during the regular season or the postseason, Honeycutt has earned the reputation as one of the best to ever wear the Carolina Blue. Now, the junior centerfielder has added to his legendary series, as he was named to the College World Series All-Tournament Team.
Honeycutt was one of four ACC players who made the College World Series All-Tournament team, joining Florida State's catcher Jaxson West, outfielder Jaime Ferrer, and NC State's third baseman Alec Makarewicz.
Overall, Honeycutt finished the College World Series with five hits, five RBIs, and two home runs in three games. One of his hits was a walk-off single to beat Virginia in the opening game. He tallied his home runs in game two against Tennessee in the 6th inning and a three-run home run in the 5th inning. As usual, Honeycutt was great in the outfield as well, as he was simply nothing short of spectacular during the College World Series.
Honeycutt's performance in the College World Series could improve his draft stock in the 2024 draft this upcoming July. He is considered a mid-first-round selection in most mock drafts, but his performance and Omaha can help move him up the draft board before the picks start flying off the board. Seeing where Honeycutt will land in the first round will be exciting, as an MLB franchise will add an absolute star to their organization.
Vance Honeycutt will go down as a Tar Heel baseball legend through all of his accomplishments. Now Honeycutt is able to add College World Series All Tournament Team to his resume after a great three years as a North Carolina Tar Heel.
