Tyler Hansbrough knows what it takes to be successful with the UNC basketball program.

The former Tar Heel and 2009 National Champion spoke about how the upcoming 2024-25 team can find some success. Through the SleepHawk Worldwide Podcast, Hansbrough discussed three different key factors to help bring them to another national championship run.

The first is how the Tar Heels need to get out and run. Hansbrough talked about the size of our guards, like RJ Davis, Elliot Cadeau, and Seth Trimble. They need to be able to control the pace of the game and use their speed. Hansbrough believes that the guards on the roster have what it takes to bring success through transition offense.

The second key factor from Hansbrough concerns defense. North Carolina will have to be a well-rounded defensive team throughout this season, especially with regard to players being on the same page defensively since a handful of players will be tasked with more playtime. Hansbrough went on to explain how Hubert Davis can use Jae'Lyn Withers in multiple positions, whether they want to go with a smaller lineup or keep him at the four position.

Hansbrough finishes his three important factors by explaining how Jalen Washington and Zayden High will have to step up. Washington and High have the skills necessary to be a big part of the lineup this season, as he believes if they can put all their skills together and stay consistent throughout the year, they will make a huge leap for the Tar Heels.

Tyler Hansbrough is very excited about the 2024-25 season and has big expectations. With the loss of some key players, Armando Bacot, Cormac Ryan, and Harrison Ingram, we will have to see guys step up in big ways. Hansbrough believes in this squad and tells Tar Heel fans to be optimistic.
