Lessons Learned from the UNC football program's humiliating defeat against JMU

North Carolina knows dark days in football, but none darker than yesterday.

Hear me out.

The UNC football program's 50 points were the most scored this season. Ignoring the blocked punt for a touchdown and all of the missed two-point conversions, the Tar Heels manufactured five touchdowns and a field goal. 38 points should have been enough to beat James Madison. Unfortunately, all of the improvement seen on the defensive line evaporated into thin air.

Jacolby Criswell is not as good as Drake Maye; expecting him to be even close is unfair to him. But Criswell has the most arm talent of any North Carolina quarterback currently on the roster. He got the deep pass going again, kicking off the game with a 42-yard completion to Christian Hamilton. And he looked good rolling out of the pocket.

Criswell threw for 475 yards and three touchdowns (some in garbage time, I'll admit), and Omarion Hampton rushed for 139 yards and three touchdowns. On a normal special teams day, and maybe not such a dumpster fire day on defense, North Carolina comes out on top with that kind of performance.
