After missing weeks one and two of the 2024 NFL season due to an ankle injury, former UNC football standout wide receiver Josh Downs returned to action for the Indianapolis Colts as they squared off against the Chicago Bears.

Downs returned to practice just four days before the game and is slowly getting back into the swing of things. Although it was a quiet afternoon for Downs, who recorded three catches for 22 yards, it's great to see him healthy again.

Last week, Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter expressed his excitement for the second-year receivers' return to action and what it means for the offense

"He's put in such a great offseason and training camp of work. We're looking forward to watching that pay off for him with a really productive season this year. ... And for Josh especially, just kind of knowing how hard he's worked to get back whenever that time comes, we're excited to see it and I'm sure Anthony is too."

Anthony Richardson, the second-year quarterback from the University of Florida, appeared in just four games for the Colts last season due to injury. He is off to an alright start in what he hopes will be his first full season as the starter. Tar Heels and Colts fans are praying he and Downs can stay healthy and start developing strong chemistry.

Downs had a promising rookie year in Indianapolis and ended up making some history along the way.

Down's 68 catches in 2023 broke the Colts rookie receptions record, set by Bill Brooks in 1986. The former Tar Heel also recorded the most single-game receiving yards by a Colts rookie in nearly a decade, with 125 yards in week seven of 2023.
