Former Tar Heel Ethan Ramos made history today as the first UNC wrestler to ever participate in the Olympics.

Ramos competed in freestyle wrestling in the 87kg category, but lost to Greek wrestler Dauren Kurugliev 11-0 at the Champ-de-Mars Arena in Paris. Kurugliev scored seven points in the first period and four points in the second.

Ramos amassed an impressive 106-39 record at Carolina from 2013-2018. He was an ACC Champion at 174 pounds in 2016, and an All-American in 2015. Ramos was named to the All-ACC team three years in a row from 2015-2017.

He is currently an assistant wrestling coach at Duke, but everybody's gotta eat, right?

It was a tough day at the office for Ramos today, but hopefully he'll be back representing Puerto Rico and Carolina in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
