Former UNC football star Drake Maye was one of the top available quarterbacks on the board in the 2024 NFL Draft. Maye ultimately was selected third overall by the New England Patriots, as he was one of six quarterbacks selected within the first 12 picks.

Current Houston Texans quarterback CJ Stroud knows a thing or two about playing in the NFL as a rookie. He is the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year. When he was asked which rookie quarterback is most NFL-ready, Stroud didn't hesitate to answer.

"I feel like Drake Maye is (most NFL ready). You watch his tape, just his arm talent jumps off. The one mistake I made early on in my first couple of games is that I moved around too much. I didn't get the ball out on time. I started taking risks that weren't necessarily downfield but were by scrambling.

When you watch his tape, he scrambles when he needs to; he throws to open guys. He has raw ability and different arm angles. I like Drake Maye."

Stroud was impressed with multiple strengths by the young quarterback. He discussed Maye's arm talent, IQ in the backfield, and roll-out abilities.

These are some things we all experienced from Drake Maye during his two seasons as the starting quarterback for the UNC football program.

Stroud has clearly watched the film on Drake Maye, as he sees the talent that Maye possesses.

While Jacoby Brissett is considered the "favorite" to start for the New England Patriots, there's still plenty of time for Maye, who the Patriots believe is their franchise guy, to pass him on the depth chart. At this point, it's just a matter of time before Maye is handed the reins to the Patriots' offense, as the future is bright for the former UNC football star.
