All-time NCAA tournament lineup for the UNC Tar Heels

FanSided NCAA staff writer Sam Fariss pieces together her dream team of former Tar Heel stars. As we race toward March Madness, who makes up the all-time NCAA Tournament team for UNC?

The North Carolina Tar Heels are the third-winningest program in men’s college basketball history. With an endless list of legends, it was insanely difficult to pick out the greatest player at each position.

So much talent has passed through Chapel Hill and many players have made history while playing for UNC.

The five greatest all-time players off the bench for the Heels could win a title much less the starting squad. Here is my dream team for North Carolina:

While almost everyone in this starting five could play in the paint, Sam Perkins had jaw-dropping stats as a center for the Heels.

Perkins averaged 8.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game through his four years in Chapel Hill, alongside an impressive 15.9 points per appearance.

He was never a starter during his time with the Tar Heels, playing behind all-time greats like Michael Jordan and James Worthy. However, he had double-doubles off the bench and earned his minutes, Perkins finished his collegiate career with 1,000 minutes on the court.

At 6-foot-9, Perkins may not be the biggest man in the paint but his size and ball-handling abilities make for a perfect center on UNC's all-time NCAA Tournament starting lineup.
