3 Predictions for UNC Football program's home game against James Madison

In the final tune-up before ACC play, expect the UNC football program to get its offense into third gear.

Omarion Hampton will play in all four quarters

In a perfect world, the UNC football program would have vanquished Charlotte and NC Central early in the first half, and Omarion Hampton would have played in the second half with his helmet off, handing out Gatorade to his backups.

Unfortunately, he was taken out as a precaution against Charlotte, and needed to play deep into the second half against NC Central.

So much for saving the tread on his tires.

Hampton did not seem any worse for wear against the Eagles, though. He didn't take any hard shots or have any awkward landings, and seemed to get stronger as the game wore on. He delighted in delivering punishing blows to NC Central defenders, watching their will evaporate as the night wore on.

Is there any reason to think the game against JMU won't be the same? James Madison is the strongest of the non-conference opponents that North Carolina will play at Kenan Stadium. They have only surrendered 13 total points this year in two games, granted against Charlotte and Gardner-Webb. But they've never run into a bull in a china shop like Hampton.

Can the Tar Heel defense get enough stops to build a margin large enough to grant Hampton some rest? It's possible, but I'll wager that we see Hampton for all four quarters.
