Tyler Hansbrough gets his nose broke

In the 2007 matchup in Chapel Hill, UNC took care of business against their arch rivals. The Tar Heels led the Blue Devils by 12 with under 20 seconds to play. Having a double digit lead with very little time remaining, Duke kind of expected UNC to take their foot off the gas. With Tyler Hansbrough on the floor, they should have known that wouldn’t happen.

Psycho-T went to the kine and missed a free throw but hustled after his own rebound. He went to go back up for another shot attempt and that’s when Gerald Henderson had decided he had seen enough of Hansbrough. Henderson came flying in and dropped his elbow on Hansbrough’s nose, resulting in a fracture and a bloody, unforgettable rivalry moment.

Saturday will be the first time in a while that the stakes of a North Carolina vs. Duke game have been so high. This could create a lot of emotions, and we could potentially see more memories like these.
