For countless North Carolina fans, the wait continues to see what 5-star combo guard Dylan Mingo is going to end up deciding. Mingo committed to the Tar Heels this winter, but he has been radio silent on his future following the news that Hubert David had been fired.

Michael Malone has since been hired and the hope is he gets on the phone ASAP to connect with the elite playmaker. For weeks, though, there's been speculation that Penn State, Washington and Baylor (his other finalists) could go all-in to flip him due to the coaching change.
Well, it feels safe to say that we can go ahead and eliminate Penn State from contention. That's because breaking news has come in that Mingo's older brother Kayden, a standout for the Nittany Lions, has decided to enter the transfer portal. Do we really think Mingo will suit up for Penn State if his brother is not there? Not a chance.

Dylan Mingo update: UNC fans can wipe Penn State off the board as a flip candidate
Could the Tar Heels and Malone end up targeting Kayden via the transfer portal? This is something that's been speculated for a little while, but it feels like a bit of a toss-up. Regardless, we're all still sitting on pins and needles for a final decision to come in from Mingo. The same can be said for Maximo Adams.
For now, nothing has changed and Mingo is still going to be Chapel Hill-bound for his college career. He'll be making the move to town ranked five stars and the No. 2 combo guard in the country per the 247Sports Composite. He's got playmaker written all over for him, which is why the UNC faithful are so excited to see him in action next campaign.
The thought was that Penn State might work to change his mind, but again, we feel confident in saying that will no longer be on the table. Could Washington, Baylor or a surprise team get in the mix late? Maybe, but Malone can calm down a lot of people by reminding Mingo why he committed to UNC in the first place. Yup, we'd like to see that happen as soon as possible.
