Nikolas Khamenia cut his list to three teams before his commitment tomorrow, and North Carolina was not one of them.

Adam Finkelstein, the Director of Scouting at 247Sports, reported this afternoon that Khamenia will be choosing between Gonzaga, UCLA and Duke. The 6-foot-8 power forward will announce his decision live on the 247Sports YouTube channel tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Khamenia is ranked No. 19 nationally in the Class of 2025, according to 247Sports. He’s picked up two Crystal Ball predictions for UCLA.

However, UNC basketball fans should not be discouraged by missing out on Khamenia. For the last few weeks, news has been pretty quiet between North Carolina and Khamenia, and the Tar Heels have shifted their focus to some other talented Class of 2025 forwards.

The Tar Heels are still in a dogfight for five-star forward Caleb Wilson, and their main competition is the Kentucky Wildcats. While North Carolina might not be the perceived favorite for Wilson right now, things in the recruiting world can change in the blink of an eye. Wilson doesn’t have a decision date yet, but the Tar Heels will battle it out until the very end.

North Carolina is also in hot pursuit of four-star forward Niko Bundalo. Earlier this month, Bundalo told On3 that he cut his list to a final four: UConn, Michigan State, Ohio State and North Carolina. After UConn landed four-star big man Eric Reibe last week, they’ve lost some steam in the Bundalo sweepstakes. The Tar Heels will be in yet another winner-take-all recruiting duel.

Of course, North Carolina is still in contention for consensus No. 1 ranked AJ Dybantsa. Dybantsa is in a league of his own and the crown jewel of the Class of 2025. His recruitment is far from over, and it’s too soon to have any concrete predictions. Dybantsa’s final six is: Alabama, Auburn, BYU, Kansas, Kansas State and North Carolina. BYU seems to have the slight edge, but Dybantsa is still up for the taking, and North Carolina will throw everything they have at the elite forward.

Clearly, North Carolina still has a solid plan moving forward after missing out on Khamenia. There are three big-name forwards the Tar Heels are targeting, and fans should be on the lookout for any recruiting updates or looming decision dates.
