More Needed from Backcourt
Seth Trimble did his very best, though was inefficient, scoring a team-high 22 points on 50% shooting from the field. His free throws were below 50% (3-for-7), which in a tighter game could have been the difference between a win and a loss. SMU's torrid run to close the game spared Trimble's blushes.
The senior can hold his head high, though. Kyan Evans and Derek Dixon? Guys. We've gotta pick it up!
Evans and Dixon combined did not play as many minutes as Trimble (31 minutes to Trimble's 36). That is not enough. For North Carolina's dreams to come true, Wilson and Veesaar will be lead sled dogs, Trimble third, and whoever joins Seth in the backcourt cannot be a passenger. They've gotta pull that sled with everyone else.
Both guards only contributed a single field goal each, with Trimble and Bogavac doing most of the playmaking. Caleb Wilson alone had as many assists as the point guard duo. Hubert Davis needs more from these two going forward.
