Lessons Learned from UNC football program's huge road win at Florida State
Tar Heels dominate time of possession
North Carolina had the ball for 39:43 of a one hour game. Part of this was achieved by long drives dominated by Omarion Hampton running the ball and keeping the clock ticking. Part of this was by Florida State having three 3 & outs, plus two interceptions within the first three plays of the drive.
It would be nice if UNC could play the Seminoles three more times to close out the season, but since that's not possible, they'll have to do their best running the ball and building leads to replicate this result.
Hampton has become so sure-handed and can score in the open field, in the red zone, and at the goal line. He's the total package. When North Carolina builds leads with drives that gobble up minutes, it forces opponents to play catch up. It's no wonder the sack totals are piling up in the last two games.
Run Hampton, profit. Teams chase to catch up, sack them. Easy, right?
