When most of the yards are being piled up by Omarion Hampton, interspersed with some really good back-up snaps from Davion Gause, the receivers can be something of an afterthought. For the first time this season, Jacolby Criswell did not have a passing touchdown to any of his receivers (he did receive credit for the 49-yard shovel pass to Hampton, but c'mon...).

When pass volume isn't coming your way, it's imperative that you make the most of what you receive. UNC's receivers did just that. Kobe Paysour (3), Jake Johnson (1), Christian Hamilton (1), and Paul Billups (1) caught all of their targets, and John Copenhaver caught 4/5. Criswell was 13 for 17 passing and his misses were deep balls. Even though they weren't completions, they helped Omarion Hampton by keeping the safeties honest.

Criswell can spin it, but North Carolina's success rests on the granite thighs of Hampton. This kind of performance supports that winning formula.
