Lessons Learned from UNC football program's victory over Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons proved tough opponents (again), but when you have Omarion Hampton, how can you lose?

Silly penalties

North Carolina was flagged for some really marginal pass interference calls while also not getting in-kind whistles for some heinous arm-pulls from Wake Forest defenders. Mack Brown was as hot as I've ever seen him pointing this out to the sideline judge.

Those sort of judgment calls will go for you and against you through the course of the season, and try as you might, you cannot control that. What you can control is the pre-snap penalties.

The Tar Heels had false starts from a wide receiver and the long snapper. Unacceptable. They had three offsides calls on the defense, two on the same point-after-touchdown attempt. Unacceptable.

For the rest of the season, UNC needs to be clean in their execution, because in a one-possession game, these needless and preventable penalties could be the difference between a win and a loss.
