Lessons Learned from UNC basketball's tightrope walk win over Wake Forest

The Tar Heels were cruising in the second half, then decided to ramp up the stress levels to 100.

Jaydon Young to the rescue

If the starting guards were poor, they were bailed out in part thanks to Jaydon Young, who had the best game of his young UNC career. The former Hokie scored 12 points (more than double his previous UNC high against Central Arkansas in the first game of the season) on 4-of-6 shooting (3-of-5 from three).

Young's 20 minutes were also a season high, and it's the first time that he's played more minutes in a game than Jonathan Powell, who was also quietly effective with six points on 2-for-2 shooting from downtown. Hubert Davis no doubt rode the hot hand, and had to love Young's competitiveness all game. After Wake Forest's 6-foot-7 Juke Harris elevated and hit a three over Young, he answered with his second corner three of the game and jawed back when back-peddling back on defense.

Now I'm not calling for Young to be inserted into the starting line-up, or even get off the bench before Powell, but a few more games like this from the Goldsboro, NC native will be needed to keep UNC rolling if Kyan Evans and Seth Trimble aren't producing as they should.
