The UNC basketball program was handed devastating news when the official word came out about Caleb Wilson's injured hand. Out indefinitely just as North Carolina was entering the hardest part of their conference season. Then, with UNC wobbling on the ropes, a straight kidney shot came in the form of the team update after warm-ups that Henri Veesaar also wouldn't play against Pitt.

The Panthers are in rough shape this season, but what could we expect from the Tar Heels without the Twin Towers of Power? Turns out, quite a bit.

North Carolina (for once) came out of the gates hot and executed with precision and lethality against a Pitt team that could conceivably go toe-to-toe with them when it comes to receiving bad news. In a way, Pitt was the perfect team to face out of the gate so Hubert Davis could come to grips without his two best players and see what combos worked.

Let's dive in to some lessons learned from a fun and needed win over Pitt.
