Lessons Learned from UNC basketball's shellacking of Central Arkansas

Veesaar toughens up

Henri Veesaar took some heat after the exhibition win over Winston-Salem State for only grabbing one rebound. The seven-footer is being counted on to help win the battle of the boards, and there are concerns over his slight frame. Will Veesaar be tough enough to keep UNC out of trouble and in the Tournament?

He answered those concerns with the first double-double of his career. Veesaar scored 14 points on 6 for 9 shooting, and grabbed 10 boards, four of them offensive. Also, by my unofficial count, Veesaar drew four fouls without the ball, meaning either via positioning or by fear of an easy put back, Central Arkansas defenders fouled him in open play without the ball in his hands.

That is an easy way to help get your team in the bonus, and if UNC can shoot 81.8% or better, like they did against the Bears, those are easy points to collect in tough games where offense may be hard to come by.
