Lessons Learned from UNC basketball's shellacking of Central Arkansas

It would've taken Cocaine Bear to compete with Caleb Wilson in his college basketball debut.

Caleb Wilson...

I swear I'm not infatuated by the freshman power forward, but my goodness! Wilson has to be the first thing we talk about.

His first five made baskets were power dunks that not only added two points per attempt, but displayed dominance to Central Arkansas, who simply did not have anything in their Arsenal that could compete with UNC's next one-and-done.

Wilson led all scorers with 22 points on an extremely efficient 8 for 10 shooting. He had seven dunks, which, besides getting the crowd going, are generally a more secure way of scoring at the rim. On the night, UNC was 10 of 11 on dunk attempts, while just 10 of 15 on lay-ups. Ironically, the missed dunk was by Wilson, but he and fellow leaper Seth Trimble both went up for the same alley-oop, and they made a mess of it.

To show off the full repertoire of moves, Wilson also calmly sank his only three-point attempt of the night, and added six rebounds. One thing to keep an eye on, though, was the four fouls. Central Arkansas were ripe for the plucking, but Kansas will offer a lot more jeopardy. Wilson will have to be careful not to get whistled for anything cheap.
