Point Guard Battle?

As previously mentioned on KIH, freshman Derek Dixon had himself a night in Lexington. This may give Hubert Davis pause for thought going into the conference schedule.

Colorado State transfer Kyan Evans has been wildly inconsistent in non-conference play. He has scored in single-digits in six of UNC's nine games so far this season, and his 12 points against Kansas feel like ages ago. He has also seen his minutes range from as much as 33 against Michigan State to as little as his 16 against Kentucky due to his foul trouble.

What should worry Evans most is that as he's struggling, freshman Derek Dixon is starting to feel himself. Dixon played 24 minutes against Kentucky, his highest total of the season so far. And his +/- of +5 was a far cry from Evans's -2.

And when your backup has the onions to do this with the game on the line?

Kyan Evans will need to step his game up to keep Dixon on the bench. Iron sharpens iron.
