Old Arizona Buddies

Georgetown's KJ Lewis must have been excited to see his old Arizona teammate Veesaar in the Smith Center... up until the tip-off. Tommy Lloyd is absolutely cooking in Tucson, as he has the No. 2 team in the country despite losing these productive ballers.

Lewis led the Hoyas with 17 points and 7 rebounds. He was the beating heart of Georgetown's attack and, unlike Julius Halaifonua (who had 16 points), kept his fouls under control. Veesaar had his fellow former Wildcat beat with 18 points and 15 rebounds, a career high. He also had an astonishing +/- of +27! Veesaar only sat for four minutes and didn't start accumulating fouls until late in the second half, but every time he went to the bench, you could feel Georgetown building momentum.

Veesaar didn't get this much burn at Arizona, and he's showing that he has the shoulders to carry the load. Remember those early-season complaints about his rebounding? That feels like years ago at this point.
