Lessons Learned from the UNC basketball program's win over Hawai'i
The Rainbow Warriors were dispatched, but not without showing North Carolina where it needed to improve.
The UNC basketball program had a late-night appetizer at Hawai'i before embarking on their Feast Week main course at the Maui Invitational. The (then) undefeated Rainbow Warriors would be a good early season test for the Tar Heels, especially since they had size that could pose problems for North Carolina.
So it came to pass that Hawai'i held a +9 rebounding edge in the first half. North Carolina was able to overcome that deficit with its talent, some timely shooting, and the return of Elliot Cadeau, who had to sit for the majority of the first half after picking up two early ticky-tack fouls.
Lessons need to be learned quickly, because starting on Monday, the quality of opposition improves exponentially. Let's dive in.
