Team turnovers are becoming an issue
In a sloppy first half, North Carolina committed nine turnovers against just 12 made field goals. The Tar Heels missed the front end of a one-and-one twice as well, so let's call that 11 turnovers.
Folks, that production just won't cut it, especially when the team isn't getting to the line enough (4/6 from the FT line) or hitting a high percentage of threes (3/13). It was an ugly first half that just barely didn't include UNC's famed first-half double-digit deficit for the first time in five games.
There seem to be two culprits for the turnovers. The interior passing is still a bit bumbling (as we discussed after the Alabama game), and Elliot Cadeau is having some of his passes intercepted. Is this due to scouting, or is Cadeau regressing? I'd need more games to evaluate, but it's certainly an alarming trend. Cadeau had seven turnovers against Georgia Tech and is averaging five per game over his last three games.
For a team shooting just 46.9% from the field, this is too many turnovers to give up.
