Elliot Cadeau's offensive evolution

The knock on Elliot Cadeau has been that he's a great passer, but you can leave him alone on the perimeter. Coach Hubert Davis promised that we were about to see a whole new Cadeau this season. He showed that by comfortably hitting his first three of the game.

Cadeau scored 17 points on 4-7 shooting (3-4 from three, which should have been 4-5 if not for Jae'Lyn Withers throwing the ball at the rim in the second half) and 6-8 from the free throw line. With Armando Bacot, Harrison Ingram, and Cormac Ryan gone, Cadeau looks like he understands that he'll need to pick up some of the scoring slack.

That doesn't mean that he's abandoning his pass-first role. He had seven first-half assists, and looked to be on course for 12-15, until Elon slowed the game down. UNC was throwing lobs for dunks in a way they seemingly haven't since 1997. Different nights will call for different roles, but it looks like Elliot Cadeau will be able to answer the call if Hubert Davis needs him to score the ball.
