Good game, bad game

Jalen Washington was benched in favor of Ven Allen-Lubin as Hubert Davis looked to tinker with the line-up. But when the Vanderbilt transfer got saddled with foul trouble, Washington came back in and was able to make an offensive impact, playing an effective two-man game with RJ Davis.
Washington had 18 points on an efficient 7/10 shooting, and hit all four of his free throws. He also added six rebounds, four of them on the offensive boards.
But...
Jalen got absolutely worked on the defensive end. He was unable to keep 6-foot-9, 270 pound Chad Venning from getting to his spots in the paint. Venning had 17 points, and left three on the the free throw line. We've already discussed his issues with Jayde Hastings.
Washington finished the game with a +/- of +3. That's not great considering he tied his career-high in points. Washington has shown he can be a rim protector, but he does not have the bulk to protect the block. Teams with size can negate his defensive gifts, and hopefully his injury was just a scare and nothing more serious.
