One more lesson from these Maui refs, who were horrible all tournament. At the end of the first half, they correctly called Tre Holloman's three-pointer null due to a shot clock violation. Unfortunately, they didn't arrive at that conclusion until both teams were in the locker room. They had to haul everyone back onto the court to give UNC the ball and 2.1 seconds to try something.

I have literally never seen anything like that in my entire life. How did these refs know to go to the monitor to check the shot clock knowing that a violation would leave time on the game clock is beyond me.

They also arbitrarily let Ian Jackson go an entire defensive sequence without a shoe on, but then called ref's time to let him put it back on when UNC had the ball. Why? Who knows.
