We can quibble about the lack of foul calls that benefitted Dayton all night. They were consistently bumping, pushing off, and jumping into bodies, including some nasty collisions with Elliot Cadeau that made some sickening thud sounds in the Lahaina Civic Center.

But since those calls weren't getting whistled, North Carolina needed to adjust, and they didn't until after the second half. Dayton was the tougher team, and they were dictating terms to UNC, who failed to respond immediately.

Twice, UNC guards grabbed rebounds and turned their heads, only to have the ball stolen. These sorts of heads-up plays killed UNC's momentum when they got a stop. They'll have to clean that up to stop runs from turning into flow-killers.
