Forgive the UNC basketball program for sending a few east-coasters to bed early after a disastrous first half. The Tar Heels trailed Dayton 51-33 at halftime as a series of calamities conspired to ruin paradise on night one.

While Dayton is not chopped liver, they were not supposed to be UNC's toughest opponent in this tournament. Fortunately, thanks to a heroic second half where RJ Davis and Seth Trimble lost their minds and drove the team to victory--despite some dagger three-pointers from the Flyers--North Carolina did not become a punchline like UConn did earlier in the day.
