Dean Smith used to say that the best thing about freshmen is that they become sophomores. Dean would salivate at the thought of handing sophomore Elliot Cadeau the keys to his offense.

Cadeau displayed a mature performance against Memphis, largely doing as he pleased during the game. His 13 assists are eye-popping, and that total could easily have been higher if his teammates were ready to catch all of his passes. Over time, that chemistry will develop, and you'll see a lot more dunks off his subtle bounce passes in the paint.

He was able to penetrate like a baseball pitcher mixing speeds. He has a quick burst, and will unsettle defenders with his hesitation moves, and defenders never know when he'll unleash a cross-court pass because Cadeau doesn't need to stop and set his feet to do it.

North Carolina fans have not seen a passer like this since Kendall Marshall. Hubert Davis has said he wants to be the fastest team in the country. As K-Butter used to say, nobody can dribble as fast as a good pass. Cadeau could helm a quick UNC offense.
