Drake Powell is a Swiss army knife

Look at this box score: 8 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks, 1 steal.

And most important? A team-leading +/- of +39.

North Carolina did not need any of their freshman recruits to come in and lead the team in scoring. They just needed contributors to surround RJ Davis. Drake Powell may be the freshman most suited to heavy minutes early in the season thanks to his net positive defense, and his ability to positively affect the game in a myriad of ways.

Powell is not ball dominant, but can score. He doesn't constipate the offense, and he makes winning plays. Witness this heads up defense at the end of the game after committing a turnover:

This kid will be like Leaky Black on steroids. If he can hit a decent percentage of corner threes, he'll easily average 20 minutes per game come conference play.
