The Tar Heels played FAST

Hubert Davis was never going to be mistaken for Tony Bennett tempo-wise. North Carolina ranked #58 in Division I last season with 73.3 possessions per game. The #1 team in tempo last season was Kennesaw State at 77.5. Against Johnson C. Smith, UNC had 79 possessions.

The Tar Heels were up and down the court. They averaged 1.61 points per possession and scored 34 fastbreak points.

Hubert Davis has stated that he wants the Tar Heels to play fast. They may have to with their lack of size all over the court. The frontcourt lacks some bulk and a dominant rebounder, and the backcourt is relatively short. Leaning into their quickness advantage and having Elliot Cadeau pull the strings with an offense that features all-world RJ Davis and the suddenly dangerous Seth Trimble is an intriguing prospect.
