North Carolina puts Cal on Lockdown

North Carolina played great team defense throughout the entire game. The Tar Heels held Cal to 34.8% shooting from the field, and 12% from three (the Bears shot 3/25 from downtown, and made one in garbage time).
Despite fielding a smaller team, UNC trounced Cal in the battle of the boards with a +12 margin. Though, to be fair, Cal was missing many more shots to gobble up. The smaller guards were extremely active, swiping seven steals, and swarming Andrej Stojakovic with double-teams, keeping him extremely quiet in the first half.
Ven Allen-Lubin had three blocks and led the Tar Heels with eight rebounds. If Hubert Davis can get serviceable (or better!) post play like he has against NC State and Cal, North Carolina's prospects in ACC conference play look golden.
