We are beyond shame and humiliation. This is something new.

Your favorite player is always the back-up quarterback

Prior to news of Gio Lopez being a scratch for the Clemson game after he was knocked out of the UCF loss, many in Tar Heel Nation were ready for Bill Belichick to bring Max Johnson in. He had some success in garbage time against TCU, and a lot of Gio's perceived shortcomings (pun not intended) could be solved by the 6-foot-5 pocket passer.

Perhaps we were a bit too hasty.

Max Johnson had a rufffff day at the office, throwing 26 for 42 for just 213 yards. The Tar Heels needed every one of those passing yards though, as they only rushed for 57 yards on 18 attempts. This was about as putrid effort on offense as you're ever likely to see. Long looks in the mirror need to be had, and go ahead and double that amount of time for all offensive linemen.

Cal is yet to kick-off against Duke, but they are off to the races this season, and it could easily be ANOTHER ugly loss for the Tar Heels in Berkeley.
