Offensive Offense

I don't know what I was more concerned about at halftime: the 21-point difference or the 24 points UNC scored. Both were bad indicators for the offense, and Duke's intensity on defense put Carolina in a position they couldn't overcome.
In the first half, the Tar Heels shot 10/28 from the field and 1/10 from three, with the only three coming from Elliot Cadeau, not one of the shooters you'd expect to power the perimeter attack. Hubert Davis made the deliberate choice to attack the paint to start the game, and Ven-Allen Lubin had some joy in the first 13 minutes, but struggled to handle the ball as Duke defended aggressively to close the half.
In the second half, Carolina had an offensive explosion, outscoring Duke 49-29. The Tar Heels scored 1.424 points per possession (ppp) in 33 possessions in the second half, compared to the 0.75 ppp in 32 possessions. Tempo remained constant, but efficiency went through the roof.
