Precision Needed

Gio Lopez didn't need to be a Drake Maye facsimile to beat Richmond, but moving forward he really needs to dial in his passing. He wasn't throwing the ball into his receivers' hands/chest or leading them well in the first half.
Jordan Shipp made a great catch for his first touchdown of the game...

... but considering how wide open he was, Lopez has to get that ball down so Shipp doesn't have to extend his arms that high or slow down to pick it off. Against ACC defenses, the safety will have time to catch up and bring Shipp down before he can get to the end zone.
Additionally, Lopez missed throws to Jake Johnson, Kobe Paysour, and Caleb Hood, all in the end zone. He also should have had an interception early in the second quarter. If Max Johnson isn't ready to back-up Lopez (freshman Au-Tori Newkirk had one throw... for an interception, so let's not throw him in the mix just yet), it's up to Lopez to play smart, clean football from here out.
