Former UNC Baseball first baseman, Aaron Sabato, now a part of the Minnesota Twins organization, has been called up to Triple-A. Sabato is moving on from the Wichita Wind Surge (Double-A) to the St. Paul Saints (Triple-A). The Rye Brook, New York native is leveling up in his professional career.

R.L. Bynum shared the news on X (formerly Twitter) about the news, including Sabato's big grand slam wearing a St. Paul Saints uniform:

That home run lifted Sabato's team in an 8-2 victory over the Toledo Mud Hens in Game 3 of what will eventually become a six-game event.

Here's a short excerpt of the game following Sabato's outstanding performance found on MILB.com:

"After the fourth walk of the inning loaded the bases, Sabato crushed a grand slam over the batter’s eye in centerfield giving the Saints an 8-2 lead. It was his first home run of the season at Triple-A and third career grand slam. Sabato became the 8thplayer in CHS Field history to homer over the batter’s eye, the sixth Saints player, and third Triple-A Saints player to accomplish the feat with his 426-foot blast. Sabato finished the night 2-4 with a grand slam, a career-tying high five RBI, and a run scored."

During his time in a Carolina uniform, one that lasted two seasons in Chapel Hill under former head coach Mike Fox, he had season-highs of two home runs in a game, three hits, three RBIs, along with three runs scored as a sophomore.

These days, Sabato continues to have similar success on a much bigger stage. He is now getting closer to playing in Target Field, with about 40,000 fans in attendance.

One game after the next moves him closer to that spotlight, and whenever that happens, Sabato's name will become a part of history, recognizing Tar Heels to reach the MLB level.
