Golf lovers and Tar Heel Nation unite!
Former UNC golfer Ben Griffin was named to the U.S. team by Captain Keegan Bradley as one of his six captain's picks. This is no small honor, as Bradley elected not to pick himself.

The headliners for the U.S. team are automatic qualifiers Scottie Scheffler, J.J. Spaun, Xander Schauffele, Russell Henley, Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau, and Keegan Bradley was tasked with rounding out the squad with six more players. Bradley would be well within his rights to select himself, as he's ranked No. 11 in the qualifications standings, has won two tournaments since being named U.S. team captain last June, and finished seventh in the season-ending PGA Tour Championship.
But to his credit, Bradley said he would not select himself to play if he wasn't a top-six automatic qualifier. Enter former Tar Heel Ben Griffin.
Griffin, who played in Chapel Hill from 2014-18 and holds the school record for lowest career scoring average (72.02) has had a fantastic PGA Tour season, winning two tournaments (Zurich Classic and Charles Schwab Challenge) and finishing sixth in the points standings for the FedEx Cup Playoffs.
Expect Griffin, a steady golfer who limits mistakes, has a strong short game, and is steadily improving his drive, to compete in the Procore Championship in California from 11-14 September, before heading to Farmingdale, New York for the 2025 Ryder Cup from 26-28 September.
Make sure to tune in to cheer on America as they take on Europe's best, and fingers crossed that a Tar Heel leads the way for Team USA!
